Many women wait a while before they stop making an effort with their appearance for dates with their new boyfriends.
But Katy Perry is clearly feeling comfortable with boyfriend John Mayer after five months of on/off dating.
Spotted dining in Beverly Hills on Thursday night, Katy, 28, looked far from her usual kitsch, colourful self in a drab ensemble of khaki jacket, black beanie and thick-rimmed glasses.

With boyfriend John, 35, going for a multi-layered denim look, Katy looked like she feeling the cold in her ensemble as they left Matsuhisa Japanese restaurant.
It looked like they may not have finished their meal as John was seen carrying a paper doggie bag as they headed to the valet to collect their car.
Their date night came after they spent Christmas together - a sure sign their romance is quickly getting serious.

On Saturday, Katy and John paid a visit to a hospital in her hometown of Santa Barbara.
And after spending Christmas Day together with Katy's family, the Kissed A Girl star posted a photo of her man dressed as Santa Claus on her Twitter page the following day.
She captioned it: 'Santa baby.'

Going the distance: John and Katy have been dating on and off since late July

The couple were first linked in July following Katy's brief romance with Florence And The Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd earlier in the summer.
They were reported to have split in late August, but were spotted on a dinner date together just days later.
The couple made their romance official in November when they posed on the red carpet of A Christmas Story on Broadway.
